Are you more likely to "hide the vegetable" in a dish or make it shine as the main ingredient? Why?

I tend to hide the vegetables in my soups; herb stalks and carrot and celery tops add savory flavor and blend in with all the other seasonings.

Reflecting on how your grocery trips have gone in the past: do you fill up your cart? Do you think you can fit everything you need into a smaller cart or a basket?

Switching to a smaller cart helps me stick to my list and avoid buying things I don't have a plan to use.

I agree, sticking to a small cart or basket lets me not spend money on unnecessary food that I don't need, or will not use.

I switched to storing foods in wide-mouth pint and quart jars. So easy to see what I have, and writing dates on the lids helps me remember which are oldest and need to be eaten first. Added bonus, they are microwaveable, and they cleanup great in the dishwasher, no more plastic containers that have to be washed by hand, and no more nano-plastics shedding in my food.

Hooray! I admit I have never canned before, so I never knew Ball sold lids that were in any other color besides metallic.

I found these hard plastic storage containers for onion and peppers and they work great for keeping things fresh and smells out of the fridge.

I first found the onion at a garage sale. I found the pepper on Amazon, brand is Hutzler

I have seen these sold somewhere before, but I’m failing to remember in which catalog. 🫑🧄❓🤔

I made salsa with my garden tomatoes, peppers, and onions. I use Penzey's salsa/pico spice. So fresh and yummy!

That sounds really good! My tomatoes did well this year, but I only planted cherry tomatoes. I went with a smaller garden this year.

I started using a cloth bag to store my broccoli in and it helps preserve it for a lot longer, the cloth absorbs moistures that develop in the food drawer and keep the stalks firm inside.

I made raspberry syrup for the first time. Delicious on pancakes!

I've noticed when we buy snacks/food from costco, we get sick of it before we finish the bag/pack. then we feel guilty about it and keep it in the fridge for months... im going to try to give away the things we dont eat as soon as we get sick of them instead of guily-keep things.

Hi Brooke, I have this same problem with the foods I buy at Costco (asparagus, mushrooms, etc.) and I started sharing things with my daughter. Makes it feel better about shopping there for fresh produce.

I almost always get green beans, tomatoes, and alliums. The alliums last for months, and the taste is so much richer! nummy nummy
