Planning
Find your meal planning personality
I will explore different meal plan techniques and choose one that works for my household.
Planning
Keep a Food Inventory
I will take a fridge and pantry inventory to stay up to date with what I have at home before I go grocery shopping.
Storage
Learn About Food Storage
I will learn about food storage and store food based on best practices to keep it from spoiling before it is used.
Planning
Sign up for Fridge Check Fridays
I will sign up for Fridge Check Friday emails, sent by Hennepin County but open to everyone, to prompt me to check my fridge for food that needs to be used up and for hacks on storing food to keep it fresh.
Cooking
Use the Edible Portion
I will learn about what food is still safe to eat if portions have gone bad and make sure to utilize the edible portions if I can.
Kids
Visit a Farm
I will visit a local pizza farm, teaching farm, or CSA grower to educate myself and my children on farm-to-table concepts.
Cooking
Swap This for That
If I am missing an ingredient for a recipe I will find a substitute I have on hand and use that instead.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPlanningWhat meal plan method works for you and why? Have you tried some in the past that didn't work?
Kim Wahl 10/13/2026 6:20 AMI took the quiz and got flexible planner which is what I already do. I didn't realize that was a meal planning option. I thought meal planning was just done on one day for the week or the month which I tried and never worked for me. It was nice to learn there are other options and received tools to help me.
