Do you know if the restaurants you frequently visit offer smaller portions? Do you feel comfortable asking for them if not?

Yes, the restaurant I frequently go to does offer half sizes, and I did request one and saved half a dish and still had some leftovers!

What are some of the things you typically buy that you weren't on your list? How do you think you might limit some of those purchases?

I like to buy more bananas even when I don't need them because I will keep some in the freezer but i often forget to use those so this time I left them off the list. This helps reduce food waste.

What kinds of food are on your Eat First shelf? Has creating an Eat First area helped you reduce food waste?

I put older protein and granola bars that are normally in a bin, in a little shelf that allows me to restock from the back, so I eat the older ones first. This helps me not throw away expired bars.

What did you find you are tossing the most? How can you change your habits to avoid wasting this food?

I would toss away leftover food that I left to waste in the fridge. I can reheat leftover food the day after for lunch or dinner.

This is a great way to avoid food waste. I noticed my family cooks new food even when we still have leftovers, and that’s how food gets wasted in my house. So I made a rule for us not to cook new food until the leftovers are finished. Also, if you don’t like leftovers, just cook enough food for that day.
