Jenny's actions
Planning
Keep a Food Inventory
I will take a fridge and pantry inventory to stay up to date with what I have at home before I go grocery shopping.
Cooking
Revive Limp Produce
I will rescue limp produce like leafy greens or carrots by soaking them in cold water or using them in recipes where appearance doesn't matter.
Storage
Preserve food
I will try a new method of food preservation, such as canning, pickling, drying or making jam. I will try 1 preservation techniques.
Storage
Properly Store Veggie Snacks
I will put carrots and celery in jars filled with water to keep them fresh, crisp, and easy to grab for up to a week. I will properly store 2 veggie snacks.
Storage
Properly Store Berries
To keep berries fresh, place them on top of a paper towel in a sealed container to absorb excess moisture and reduce chances of molding. I will properly store 2 packs of berries.
Community
Attend an Event
I will attend an event from the Save Food, Spend Less Challenge - Calendar of Events.

Jenny Kedward 10/12/2026 9:25 AMWe're already in Week 2! What are your challenge to-dos this week?
For me, I'm setting aside 15 min today or Tuesday evening to inventory my fridge and freezer. -
Jenny Kedward 10/07/2026 2:22 PMI stopped by a chef demo at the Northeast Farmers Market last Saturday! It was well done and I'minspired to use up a few things for the recipe. -

Jenny Kedward 10/01/2026 12:42 PMHappy first day of the Challenge! What is the action you're most looking forward to trying?-
Jenny Kedward 10/02/2026 10:01 AMThat's great Heidi!
I'll be trying out pressure canning for the first time, updating our freezer inventory, and attend one of the Challenge events. -
Heidi Blum 10/01/2026 2:28 PMI am excited to work on portion size. While cooking big and freezing is cool, my son and I have very different diets. We often have leftovers for multiple days, which gets boring. I am interested in starting to shop more frequently for a specific meal- buying only what I need, preparing it, and eating it that day. Keeping things as fresh and local as possible. More of a European style of shopping and eating. There is a reason that fridges overseas are smaller than American style fridges.
